What the job covers
- Helps meet 'similar appearance' planning conditions
- Thin slips (typically 10–20mm) bonded to the system base coat
- Heavier than render, so more fixings are specified
- Corners formed with L-shaped slips for a convincing finish
Before we quote in Penzance
Surveys in Penzance also cover the surrounding TR18 district and towns such as Camborne and Redruth. Penzance sits around 16 miles from Redruth. The South West has many stone and solid-walled cottages, exposed coastal properties and a share of post-war system-built houses, including types such as the Cornish Unit.
Parts of Cornwall fall in the higher wind-driven rain exposure bands, especially coastal and upland sites, so render specification, movement joints and detailing at cills, verges and the base of the wall matter more than usual.
On brick terraces in Penzance, slips can insulate the wall while keeping the street's look.

England: planning and regulations
Before quoting in Penzance, we check whether the property is in a conservation area, under an Article 4 direction or listed, because that decides whether changing the outside needs planning permission.
Insulating or re-rendering more than half of a wall's area brings in Part L of the Building Regulations, so building control is notified and the wall is upgraded to about 0.30 W/m²K where practical.
Why choose brick slips over render?
Permitted development for houses in England and Wales generally expects materials of a similar appearance to the existing walls. On a brick terrace or estate, render can change the street scene, while brick slips keep it. Some owners simply prefer the brick look.

Brick slip EWI in Penzance: questions
Can I mix brick slips and render?
Yes. A brick plinth or ground floor with render above is a common combination.
Will brick slips match my neighbours' brick?
We source slips to get close in colour and texture and show samples beforehand, but an exact match to weathered brick isn't always possible.
Is a brick slip finish more expensive?
Yes — roughly £70–£120 per m² more than render, because of materials and slower installation.
Do you cover Penzance?
Yes — we survey and quote brick slip finishes in Penzance (TR18) and nearby Camborne, Redruth and Falmouth, with a fixed written price before any work starts.
