Re-rendering, repairs and upkeep
Render cleaning and treatment
Render cleaning removes algae, mould and dirt from rendered walls using a low-pressure soft wash and a biocide that keeps working after application. It avoids high-pressure jetting, which can damage thin-coat render and drive water into the wall.
- Low-pressure application — no high-pressure jetting
- Biocide treatment that continues to work after cleaning
- Safe for silicone, acrylic, monocouche and EWI finishes
- Plants, windows and surfaces protected
- Optional silicone paint to refresh faded colour
- Most houses done in a day

Why not pressure wash render?
Thin-coat renders are only 1–2mm thick. High-pressure jetting can erode the texture, strip colour, force water behind beads and cracks, and damage the insulation system underneath. A soft wash uses chemistry rather than pressure to do the work.
Typical build-up
- Method
- Low-pressure soft wash
- Treatment
- Biocide with residual action
- Suitable for
- Silicone, acrylic, monocouche, EWI, painted render
- Optional
- Silicone paint refresh
- Typical duration
- 1 day for a house
How long does cleaned render stay clean?
It depends on shade, trees and exposure. Many walls stay clean for several years after a biocide treatment. North-facing, shaded and damp walls may need treating more often.

Render cleaning and treatment: questions
Is render cleaning safe for EWI?
Yes, using low pressure and products suitable for thin-coat render.
Will the green come back?
The biocide slows regrowth considerably, but shaded, damp walls can need retreating every few years.
Do you need scaffolding?
Usually not for a two-storey house; poles and low-pressure equipment reach most walls.
Can faded render be refreshed?
Yes — a compatible silicone paint restores colour without making the wall less breathable.
