Solid and internal wall insulation
EWI and render survey
An EWI survey measures your walls, checks their construction and condition, and records everything that affects the insulation and render — damp, ground levels, eaves, windows and services — so the price you get is fixed in writing before any work starts.
- Measured wall areas and elevations
- Wall type, condition and any damp identified
- Eaves, cills, reveals and services recorded
- Planning and Building Regulations position checked
- System, thickness and finish recommended
- Fixed written price — no obligation

What happens during the survey?
We measure each elevation, photograph the details that affect the job, check the wall construction and look for damp, cracking and loose render. Ground levels and the damp-proof course are recorded so the system starts in the right place. Eaves depth, window cills, flues, meters, soil pipes, satellite dishes and lights are all noted because each one needs a detail.
Typical build-up
- Survey length
- Typically 45–90 minutes for a house
- You receive
- Written quote and specification

- Paid, priced up front
What do I get afterwards?
A written quote listing the system (board, thickness and finish), the detailing included, scaffolding, any repairs found, exclusions, the VAT treatment and the expected programme. Where planning or building control is needed, the quote says so and who handles it.
Is the survey really free?
For installation quotes, yes, with no obligation. Detailed condition reports on existing render or EWI — for example for a purchase, a dispute or a warranty claim — are a separate paid service, priced up front.

EWI and render survey: questions
How long does the survey take?
Usually 45–90 minutes for a house. Blocks and commercial buildings take longer.
Do I need to be home?
Ideally yes, so we can check inside for damp and look at window reveals, but rear and side access is the main thing.
Can you quote from photos?
We can give a guide figure from photos and measurements, but a fixed price needs a visit.
How long is the quote valid?
The quote states its validity period, usually 30 days, because material prices change.
