Homes and walls in Plymouth
Surveys in Plymouth also cover the surrounding PL2 district and towns such as Plymstock and Paignton. The South West has many stone and solid-walled cottages, exposed coastal properties and a share of post-war system-built houses, including types such as the Cornish Unit.
Parts of Devon fall in the higher wind-driven rain exposure bands, especially coastal and upland sites, so render specification, movement joints and detailing at cills, verges and the base of the wall matter more than usual.
If your house in Plymouth is pebble-dashed, covering the dash is usually simpler than removing it.

Planning and building control in England
Before quoting in Plymouth, we check whether the property is in a conservation area, under an Article 4 direction or listed, because that decides whether changing the outside needs planning permission.
If the work covers more than half of a wall, or a quarter of the building's whole envelope, it counts as renovating a thermal element, with a target of about 0.30 W/m²K where feasible.
When does pebble dash need removing?
Where it's widely hollow, cracked or letting water in, or where the wall underneath needs to be inspected or repaired. Removal is dusty and noisy and can damage the face of soft bricks, so it's not the default.
