Homes and walls in Crosby
We cover Crosby and nearby Bootle, Litherland and Wallasey. Crosby is about 5 miles from Liverpool. The North West has one of the largest stocks of pre-1919 solid-wall terraces in England, alongside Pennine stone houses and post-war estates.
Exposure to wind-driven rain varies across Merseyside: sheltered town streets fare better than walls on high ground or facing the prevailing weather, and the render, beads and cill details are chosen with that in mind.
If you're re-rendering in Crosby, we'll show you what adding insulation under the silicone would cost at the same time.

Planning and building control in England
For a house in Crosby, external insulation or render is often permitted development if it looks similar to the existing walls; conservation areas, flats, commercial buildings and listed buildings need permission or consent, so we check your address first.
Building control applies once more than half of a wall is insulated or re-rendered, or more than a quarter of the whole building envelope, and your written quote says how that's handled.
How is silicone render applied?
On masonry, the wall is prepared and any loose material removed. A base coat with glass-fibre mesh is applied over the whole wall to resist cracking, followed by a primer and the silicone finish, trowelled to its grain size. On EWI, the same base coat, primer and finish go over the insulation boards.

Silicone render in Crosby: questions
Can silicone render go over old render?
If the old render is sound and well bonded, often yes after cleaning and priming. Hollow or cracked areas are cut out and repaired first.
Does silicone render crack?
The mesh-reinforced base coat and the render's flexibility make cracking much less likely than with sand and cement, but structural movement in the wall can still show through.
Can I paint silicone render later?
Yes, with a compatible silicone paint, though through-coloured render rarely needs it.
Do you cover Crosby?
Yes — we survey and quote silicone render in Crosby (L23) and nearby Bootle, Litherland and Wallasey, with a fixed written price before any work starts.
